Boston-Area Container Farm Town to Table Adds AmplifiedAg 3-Container Farm Suite to Grow Fresh Hydroponic Basil

Town to Table Expands Boston-Area Hydroponic Vertical Farming Operation; Increasing Capacity by 500%

News Provided by Town to Table: BOSTON, MA December 14, 2022– Indoor hydroponic vertical  farming company Town to Table is expanding its growing and processing capabilities with the addition of a new growing  facility in Weymouth, MA. The new expansion, announced today, will allow the company to increase its current weekly production of fresh packaged basil by roughly 500%. The company got its start selling into local independent food retailers in the Greater Boston area, and have most recently established a relationship with Massachusetts-based Roche Bros.

“A large part of our mission is to connect food and community,” said Jack Levine, Co-Founder and CEO of Town to Table. “Our business model allows us to bring food production closer to the point of consumption which reduces food waste, reduces food miles, and fosters a stronger connection to our food. We’re thrilled to continue making locally-grown basil accessible year-round in the Greater Boston area.”

Founded in 2019, by Jack Levine and partner Temen Kim, Town to Table cultivates its fresh produce in weather-proofed and climate-controlled indoor environments. By optimizing conditions in controlled settings, the company is able to produce sustainably-grown basil on a year-round, hyper-local basis. While retail delivery times can vary when sourcing basil from warm growing regions including Hawaii, Colombia and Mexico, Town to Table’s farm-to-shelf model allows retailers quick access to fresh produce in as little as 24 hours from the time of harvest.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with Town to Table as they bring fresh basil into our stores across Massachusetts,” said Tom Murray, Director of Produce and Floral at Roche Bros., a second-generation food retailer. “Their innovative way of growing locally, year-round will help further our mission to provide our customers with the freshest produce possible. We look forward to continuing to grow our partnership with Town to Table that has proven to increase the availability of locally grown produce across Massachusetts.” Currently, Town to Table’s packaged basil is available at most Roche Bros. and Brothers Marketplace locations.

To outfit their new facility, Town to Table partnered with South Carolina-based indoor-agriculture technology company Amplified Ag, whose enterprise-grade technology-enabled container farms regulate environmental inputs such as light, water, and plant nutrition to yield consistent, fresh produce year-round.

AmplifiedAg has also built and operates the largest hydroponic container farm in the United States, Vertical Roots. “At AmplifiedAg, our team understands the vertical farming business from experience, so we have designed farms and technologies with flexibility to scale enterprise production and support vertical farming business owners like Jack and Temen. We’re proud to be introducing our technology to the Northeast through our partnership with Town to Table, and look forward to enabling their continued growth and success,” said Don Taylor, CEO of Amplified Ag, Inc.
